Contractors should be approved before bidding a project that requires a Barrett warranty.
The approved contractor submits a completed “Project Award Statement / Request for Warranty” form before the project begins, along with copies of the project specifications and drawings.
Barrett reviews the package and specifications for compliance with Barrett requirements. The contractor is notified of any discrepancies, which should be resolved before starting the project. A Barrett technical representative is available to help.
Step 2
During the project
Application inspections.
Barrett performs application inspections as it determines necessary. Inspections required out of the ordinary are subject to service charges.
If the project specifications require a specified number of manufacturer inspections, the contractor should notify Barrett before bidding to determine costs.
When installation is complete, the contractor submits a “Completion of Work Statement” form. Barrett performs a final inspection as necessary. If discrepancies are detected, the contractor receives a punchlist of what is required to bring the project into compliance. Once deficiencies are corrected, the contractor notifies Barrett in writing. Re-inspections are subject to a re-inspection fee.
Once installation is approved and all warranty documentation is complete, Barrett invoices the contractor for the applicable warranty and service charges.
Upon receipt of all outstanding invoices, two copies of the unsigned warranty are sent to the contractor to transmit to the owner for signature.
The contractor or building owner returns both signed copies to Barrett for final signature and execution. Barrett returns one executed warranty to the contractor, unless directed to send it to the owner.
Keep this procedure where it can be easily referred to when needed. If these procedures are followed, warranties will be received on a timely basis.
Note: All Barrett warranties are nullified if the contractor is not paid in full.
