Designed as a cold-applied alternative to the hot rubberized asphalt RamTough 250, Barrett’s Black Pearl® Waterproofing System is composed of two primary products—Black Pearl® Adhesive & Black Pearl® Sheet Membrane.
Black Pearl® is a cold-applied alternative to hot rubberized asphalt, built from two primary products: Black Pearl® Primer Adhesive and Black Pearl® Sheet Membrane. No kettles, no melters, no open flame — just a squeegee, a roller and a crew.
The adhesive is an unoxidized asphalt cement base modified with butyl rubber, SIS, neoprene and SBS polymers, carbon black, fillers, plasticizers and curing agents, carried in an OSHA- and EPA-compliant aliphatic solvent. It is applied at 20 mils per course over three courses.
The sheet membrane is a 55-mil fiberglass-reinforced woven polyester, coated both sides and supplied with peelable polyethylene release liners, installed in two plies. The adhesive acts as a catalyst that chemically fuses the plies — and the flashings — into a single monolithic membrane with 100% compatibility between components.
The finished assembly resists 250 PSI of hydrostatic pressure, installs anywhere between 0°F and 120°F, and bonds to green or damp concrete as well as to existing asphaltic surfaces.
